Over The Nest: Cuckoo Joins Coveted ‘Endangered Species’ List

The cuckoo bird, synonymous with insanity, irritating clocks and that film that Jack Nicholson was in, has joined the infamous ‘red list’ of the UK’s most endangered birds.

The ‘endangered’ list now accounts for more than one in five of all the UK’s bird species, including Christmas favourites such as the grey partridge and the turtle dove. 

The endangered cuckoo, which migrates from Africa to Europe for the summer, has further raised concern as to the lowering survival rates of long-distance migratory birds, which are increasingly in trouble.

It is not known whether Cocoa Puff cereal is seeking a new spokes-species.
